After a long and nerve-wracking day of presenting my work at the International Water Association conference, my friend and I headed to the beach opposite the hotel to unwind. The conference was my first ever, and I had to give a speedy presentation of about five minutes to a group of scientists, which left me feeling jittery. However, I was grateful that it went well and my nerves dissipated once I started speaking.

As soon as we arrived at the beach, I was struck by its beauty. The light was simply breathtaking, casting everything in a golden glow. Despite the fact that I was wearing all black, I was enticed by the fresh air and decided to take some photos with my camera. Unfortunately, I accidentally switched to panorama mode and lost some of my shots, but I was still able to capture some stunning images of people enjoying the beach. I love these photos because they perfectly capture the essence of the beach and the beauty of the golden light. I barely had to edit them, except for a bit of cropping and rotating.

The Seaside of Sokcho

June 16, 2019

I am probably considered way obsessed with Korea; after 6 months from my last exchange to Korea in 2018, I am again back in South Korea for a week. The thing is South Korea is fascinating to me: Singapore isn’t mountainous like South Korea and even the sea is not as vast as that of South Korea’s. I saw how beautiful Sokcho is through my friend’s travel and I decided to head over to Sokcho to experience it first hand.

I came to Lotte Resort Sokcho because that’s where I can catch a view of the marvellous creation. After following the sign that led me to the boardwalk, I stood there and gazed around in awe. Ferocious waves were slapping against the rocks that were littered all over the water, and the cooling breeze made everything perfect. All I could hear were the roaring of the waves and the crashing of waves onto the rocks. Oh, not to mention other people’s exclamation after witnessing the beauty of the view.

I lost track of how far I walked; the boardwalk was around the resort that led me to a place where people were selling seafood. I proceeded to explore where it led me to and there I found people fishing. Relaxing as it was, I accepted the cue for me to sit and take in every single bit of what Sokcho had to offer. Healing to the soul, as they say; soothing to hear the sound of rolling waves hitting against the shore, enjoying the chilling summer breeze and the view. I probably cannot explain how beautiful it was but I hope the pictures did some justice to what I witnessed.
